It seems that summer has officially come to an end. It is mid October and the pumpkins are a plentiful sight. You will not believe us when we say it’s only 68 days until Christmas, but it’s true! We can tell this by the first ‘pepernoten’ filling up supermarket shelves and by the lights hung in our beautiful Hoogstraat. Probably the mood lighting has to do with the fact that we have recently been named the greenest city in the Netherlands. We celebrate this by leaving the lights on all night. Although it exudes a cozy atmosphere, most sleepers are not aware of it. We do greatly appreciate that the night owls among us have been considered, but we still prefer to encourage bicycle lighting over mood lighting past midnight.
